STAMFORD BROOK

A handsome, four-storey Edwardian home that exudes comfort and conviviality without compromising on practicality

We began by reconsidering the structure and flow on the ground floor of this hard-working home. A previously underused area of the kitchen has been transformed into three bespoke ancillary spaces: a walk-in pantry, a boot room and WC, all of which provide vital storage for the “stuff” of everyday family life.

The generous proportions and period details in the living room and formal dining room have been carefully retained. Both rooms have a distinct atmosphere created through the bold and unexpected use of colour.

Pattern and colour create a feeling of connectedness which extends from the entrance hall to the loft bedrooms. Careful consideration has also been given to sight lines: the view from one room to another draws you into the space.

Bespoke joinery maximises storage and display opportunities in every room, whilst a considered lighting plan creates intimacy and ease. The rooms are accessorised in a lively, layered combination of personal possessions, artworks and accessories, many of which have been hand-crafted by British makers.
